Movie-concert (Closing night)

"Musique à l’image"

Musical improvisation of six young composers on short films by two Masters : René Clair and Max Linder. Running time 60 minutes.

In this movie-concert, jazzman Raphaël Imbert, film maker and musician Philippe Carrese and two silent short films from the 20’s will be united: L’entr’acte by René Clair, and Be my wife by Max Linder.
This unseen night is the end result of the Improvisation and Musical Composition Workshops to which six young composers have taken part, led by composer, sax player Raphaël Imbert and film maker Philippe Carrese.
Thus, together, they will create an original, spontaneous and creative work serving the images of two of the greatest French silent film makers: René Clair (L’entr’acte) about whom Henri Langlois used to say : “In the whole world, in the last twety-five years, one man only stands for the French cinema: René Clair. Even better, he sums up in the eyes of the world not only our cinema, but the very spirit of our nation; he is seen as the successor of both Feydeau and Molière,” and Max Linder, about whom Louis Delluc used to say : “Max Linder is Cinema, like the Cinema.”
